Vintage parents...

These are two passport snapshots of my parents in their 20s. They were leaving Taiwan to study in New Jersey, and I've always wondered about their journey. The background is a fabric remnant (broke the embargo!) of a bunch of free scraps that I picked up at a garage sale. At least I didn't spend any money. But now I have even more of a pile of upholstery and wallpaper scraps.

you're getting better and better at this, ruthie! you've inspired me.

i have the old H&M skirt that i avoided wearing bc of this digusting pockets and bubble hem. so i decided to go at it and rip out the pockets and hem so it looks less trendy.

but i don't have a sewing machine and my hand sewing skills are merely mediocre, so it's looking a little rough. i'll just pass it along as something i got at Urban and make that whole roughness and patchy thing intentional. :P
